The film Ganga was definitely an eye-opener to actor Priyanka who plays the lead role in the film, which was produced by Sekhar Yelamanchi. The film is loosely based on the Jogini custom that is widely practiced across rural India. “The film’s theme was a staggering shock to me. I had no clue that there is a practice where women are treated so cruelly. I can’t believe it that a woman has to shave her head and be available for a man’s vile pleasures. That is appalling. The movie gave me a chance to enact a diverse role. I hope the film will help to abandon the insane custom and bring justice to the victims.”
