The late Murasoli Maran used to lament that Chennai could have been Silicon Valley of India had Texas Instruments not been shabbily treated by the then chief minister of Tamil Nadu, M. G Ramachandran. Feeling unwelcome, Texas Instruments went to Bangalore. Thus was laid the foundation of Silicon Valle of India. Dayanidhi Maran, the present IT & Telecom minister; is the son of Murasoli Maran.
